The open plate design makes it so much easier for my little one to grab purées and finger foods without me hovering. We've been doing a mix of spoon-feeding and baby-led weaning, and these work for both without any fuss.
My 9-month-old actually scoops food off these instead of just smearing it everywhere. The open plate design works for both her purées and the finger foods she's starting on. Five is plenty since I just rotate them through the dishwasher.
The open design is exactly what I needed for my little one to practice scooping her own food, and it's sturdy enough that she can't flip it over mid-meal. We've been using them daily for both purées and finger foods, and cleanup is a breeze.
